When her agent secured a two-book deal with Simon & Schuster, Helen Fisher was delighted: it was a dream come true. As a result, a lot of people assume that Helen’s written two novels, Space Hopper, nominated for the RNA’s Fantasy Romantic Novel Award this year, and the second book in the deal, which will be published in early 2023.

In fact, there was one novel before Space Hopper (now locked in a drawer), and another three after, all of which were rejected before the second novel was accepted. That’s six novels in total.

The truth is that Helen went to some dark places trying to get things right for that second book. She will talk about how the publishing process has been for her; why she nearly gave up and share what she’d do differently if she were to do it all again.
